CONCEPT
Informative graphics & it's immediate environment

The essence of the design dealt with a graphical interface between old building and new
 function that the public sees a non-threatening.

The building encompasses a facade reconstruction to alter the appearance of the building.
Graphics on facade are interchangeable & can differ from location & immediate environment
to suite the image of the police substation.

The existing lift tower has a new function & serves as a informative multimedia board that
 keeps the public up to date with current situations such as: missing persons, wanted persons,
safety tips & current news

Between Joubert & Mears Street

The building or site chosen is an old empty building in esselen
street between joubert streetand mears street.

The building was chosen for the following reasons:

Esselen Street, Sunnyside

The proposed new police substation(s) is located in esselen street and form part of a retail zone in Sunnyside. This makes it a prime location and makes the police station part of the shopping complex in esselen street.
